Guidelines to
Applicants for Membership of Uganda Institution of
Professional Engineers
Applicants to join the UIPE must fulfill the following
qualification:
A
degree, diploma or licence from a University or School of
Engineering recognised by Council.
Applications
for Corporate Membership (Classes of Member & Fellow)
require at least two (2) years training as a pupil engineer
after graduation, under the supervision of a Registered
Engineer; and a further two (2) years of working experience in
a position or positions of responsibility, again under the
supervision of a Registered Engineer.
During their post pupilage working experience periods,
applicants are expected to have gained experience in the
following areas of projects execution:
Project
design
Documentation
Construction/installation
Operation
and maintenance
Candidates
will be required to submit a 2,000 word typed Career Report on
their training and responsible experience.
They
will further be required to submit 4000 word typed Technical
Report on a particular project or projects, the candidate has
played a major role. Guidance notes for the preparation of
reports are included on the disk application form. Candidates
are required to submit the report in duplicate
Members
of Council and members of the Membership, Education, and
Training (MET) Committee shall not propose or support
applications for membership of the Institution in any class.
Candidates
may be required to appear for interview.

Application Forms for the different classes of Membership can be obtained from the UIPE Secretariat, 1st Floor Total Deluxe House, Plot 29/33 Jinja Road.

Obligations of Membership
Every Member is expected to participate in the Institution Activities including mentoring young engineers and also be up to date with their annual subscriptions. Subscriptions are due on 1st January of each year and the deadline for payment is 30th June of each year. Payments after that date attract a surcharge.
Location of the Secretariat
The Secretariat is located at 1st Floor Total Deluxe House, Plot 29/33 Jinja Road. Our offices are next to Coffee House and are on top of the Total Petrol Station on Jinja Road.
